The problem of boys’ underachievement continues to present teachers and early years practitioners with challenges as well as opportunities. Only in Scandinavia – where formal education does not begin until the age of seven – do boys achieve at roughly the same rate as girls. In the UK the underachievement of boys continues to be high on the government agenda. This book addresses the issues that impact on achievement.
